Frank Reese has dedicated over five decades of service to the Independent telephone industry.
In 1939, Mr. Reese was hired by the General Telephone Company of Pennsylvania as an Equipment Engineer. He became Equipment Engineer Supervisor in 1945, and Chief Engineer in 1952. In 1957, he joined the GTE Service Corporation as Engineering Director.
After retiring from GTE in 1973, he became Executive Vice President of the North Pittsburgh Telephone Company. Two years later he was made General Manager, and four years later President. Mr. Reese then became President of the holding company, North Pittsburgh Systems, Inc. He was a member of the boards for the holding company and its subsidiaries and Director of Future Technology and Product Planning for North Pittsburgh Telephone Company.
A founding board member of the Exchange Carriers Standards Association, the predecessor to the Alliance for Telecommunications Industry Solutions, Mr. Reese served as vice chairman and as a member of the executive committee. As a member of the Board of Directors for USTA, he served on the National Services Advisory and Numbering Resource Availability committees.
Mr. Reese was Chairman of the National Engineering Consortium and the Pennsylvania Telephone Association. He was a Senior Member and chaired several committees for the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, served as the elected President of GTE Automatic Electric Laboratories Incorporated, and was a member of the Board of Directors for Elgin Electronics.
An outstanding contributor to the telecommunications industry, Mr. Reese received the Distinguished Fellow Award, presented by the International Engineering Consortium in recognition of his significant contributions to the information industry and was also the recipient of the prestigious United States Telephone Association (USTA) Distinguished Service Medallion in 1994.
